Redfish, or Red Drum are our primary quarry, whether fishing with flies or light tackle they offer consistent action at all times of year. Our specialty is stalking and sightfishing for reds averaging 6lbs, with fish over 12lbs seen daily. Whether fishing the large schools that form in winter, or fish tailing on the shallowest grassflats on summer evenings, we have them patterned. Don't forget the dawn topwater that is awesome all seasons except winter.

Speckled trout grow large here, but slowly. A 5lb red may only be 2yrs old, where a 5lb trout will be upwards of 9 yrs. All large fish (over 3lbs) will be female, thus we practice strict catch and release on the large sows. Fall and winter are the best times to target the large females with large topwater and suspending plugs. The smaller individuals can be caught readily on flies, but the big gals want a much larger meal than usually can be presented well with a floating fly line. Those prepared to throw sinking lines and large Dahlberg Diver type flies can expect to catch some "gators" late fall thru winter.
Tarpon arrive here every summer, after finishing their spawning around the keys. We start targeting them as the weather, and water get hot, and the reds become lethargic during midday. The tarpon make the long trek into our waters in search of one thing: food. This areas abundant mullet, menhaden, spot and croaker provide and endless supply of groceries for them. These are not small fish, with very few seen less than 100lbs. while this generally a live bait fishery, myself and a few other local guides have been hooking them on lures (watching a 130lb fish inhale your topwater plug will make even the most seasoned angler jittery!!)!! With our techniques evolving yearly, tarpon on fly is a real possibility this summer. Please note that all tarpon trips are minimum of 6hrs, with discounts for multiple tarpon bookings in consecutive days. Oh yeah, kids love these trips, as sharks are rampant and can provide nonstop action for those interested in pulling on something mean!!
